Black four-cornered biretta with colored pompom
The black four-cornered biretta with a colored pompom is a traditional square cap for Catholic clergy and academic use. The black body is standard choir dress; the red or purple pompom adds a traditional accent and can be matched to the occasion or the rank of the wearer.

Who wears it?
The four-peaked biretta is worn by clergy who prefer the fuller, more academic shape. In the Roman Catholic Church it is common for higher ranks and for academic dress; in some places it is also worn by priests and deacons. A colored pompom is a traditional detail; the exact colour may be determined by local custom.
Sizes and fit
Available head sizes: 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63 and 64 cm. Measure the head circumference around the widest part, just above the eyebrows and ears. If you wear a zucchetto underneath, measure with it on or add a few millimetres. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one.
Made to order

Care
Brush the cap with a soft clothes brush after use. For stains, use a damp cloth and mild soap; never soak the biretta. Let it air dry naturally and reshape it while damp. Store it in a hat box or on a flat, clean surface.
